Burgundy. No, not Ron Burgundy! The color Burgundy! A winter staple that somehow transcends seasonal trends.

It is not dark red, It is not Crimson, It is not Maroon, It is Burgundy and burgundy is much more than just a color, it’s a statement!

What is the color Burgundy?

Burgundy is a color that is a few shades lighter than the color maroon and it’s unmistakably unique thanks to its purple hue.

A lot of people actually confuse it with Maroon, which is justifiable seeing as they are in fact very similar, but we’ll address the major differences between these two colors in a bit.

The color Burgundy was named as such after a historical region in east-central France.

The most famous wines produced here—those commonly referred to as “Burgundies”—are red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes, so the name isn’t indicative or descriptive of the region itself, but of the famous deep red wine that is produced there

We have the world-famous wineries of Burgundy to thank for the name.

Burgundy is also known as the color ‘Bordeaux’ in France, referencing another wine-producing region that is famous for its own wine, characterized by an identical profound red tone.

This is how, with such an affiliation, the color burgundy finds itself attached to nobility and good taste, imposing and refined. Whether used in clothing, interior decoration, for accessories, it always reflects a fairly grandiose character.

The English-language then borrowed the word “Bordeaux” somewhere around the late 1800’s to designate what we now know as the color burgundy.

This was very likely a result of the rise in import of French perfumes from English-speaking nations and the development of trade relations.

There are two different popular variations of Burgundy that you are going to want to look out for :

vivid burgundy along and older burgundy

Vivid Burgundy was so named after a hair dye that ended up becoming extremely popular. This shade is much brighter than both traditional and old Burgundy.

Old burgundy, on the other hand, came into use sometime in the 1920’s and is known for a much darker, lore purple hue.

In the 1990’s , burgundy grew to become probably the most commonly used color for lipstick, and what started as a trend in mainly in the gothic culture circles, soon became a mainstream practice.

But it doesn’t stop there. Burgundy has also been a staple of interior design and decorations, seeing as it adds depth to any room and pairs incredibly well with a number of colors.

The winter and fall haute couture lines are also constantly resorting to the

It’s also frequently associated with high society and royalty. Its vibrant tint is very often seen as representative of elegance.

That regal connotation has made the color Burgundy become somewhat of a status symbol, linking whoever is wearing it – as lipstick, clothes, nail polish or hair color- to elegance and sophistication.

Speaking of wearing Burgundy, ever-since its rise and fall in the 1990’s, burgundy lipstick has made a strong comeback, especially during the holidays.

And one of the best parts about burgundy is it’s beautiful enough for a holiday party, but also plenty wearable for work or other everyday events.

What colors make Burgundy

We’ve talked earlier about how important it is to distinguish between Burgundy, maroon, crimson, and other shades of deep red, and now you can understand why.

From a composition point of views, Burgundy and Maroon are completely different.

While Maroon is the color that is formed with the addition of brown color in red colorBurgundy is the color that is formed with the addition of purple color in red color.

Meaning that while Burgundy is more reddish with purple undertones from mixing blue and red, maroon is darker with brown undertones.

If you’re mixing your own burgundy, you could use a broad range of proportions, alternating brown, blue, and red dyes.

You might even be able to swap those three colors our for some crimson and a little bit of green dye, or even a combination of orange and blue, or yellow and purple, or better yet, you can mix crimson with a tinge of purple to find your perfect shade of burgundy

Here’s just a quick video that can show you how to mix your own crimson coloring

Burgundy brown hair color

You may think that we women only dye their hair for one reason: because they want to.

But in fact, sometimes, you just need a change, or when your favorite celebrity dyes her hair, better yet, because sometimes it’s fun to be someone else!

Anyways, if you are thinking about changing things up and doing something new with your own hair, why not go burgundy brownish?

Having Burgundy hair doesn’t just sound nice, it’s also a fantastic change.

The color is eye-catching without being too daring, therefore it’s a brilliant choice if you’re craving change but don’t want to go over the top with something drastic.

Adding vibrant deep reddish touches to you hair is the the perfect twist on an otherwise boring brunette hue.

Now that we’ve got your attention, check out every detail on getting (and taking care of ) this burgundy brownish hair color below.

1. Choose IF BURGUNDY BROWN HAIR IS Appropriate for YOU

It’s not uncommon to stress out about dying your hair, after all it is a big step !  Dyeing your hair a different color might seem daunting, but don’t let that stop you from going for it. It’ll be well worth it !

Regardless of your skin tone, the perfect shade of burgundy brownish hair that can look gorgeous for you is out there. If you have light, translucent skin that’s seemingly porcelain, this shade is likely to look eye-catching on you;

whereas if you have medium to dark skin, the color is more likely to seem a lot more subtle, but just as glamorous.

For anyone with cooler undertones, maybe stick to a burgundy hair color that has a more purplish hue. That combination is more likely to pair nicely together.

Skin with warmer undertones however are very well complemented by a Burgundy hair color with more hints of true red than blue or purple.

Your current hair-color can also play into your decision to dye. Brunettes and dark red Heads will absolutely love burgundy brownish hair since it is really a simple shift.

Going from a relatively dark color to burgundy not only doesn’t require much preparation, but it also doesn’t necessitate much upkeep, and isn’t very likely to damage the hair

If you’re looking for something different that’s perhaps not too out there, dyeing your hair burgundy brownish is a easy way to switch things up a little

For blondes wanting to give burgundy brownish a shot, you might want to prepare yourself for quite dramatic change. Dramatic, but in the best way possible.

It’ll probably require a lot more thinking, and quite a bit of maintenance, and while yes, your natural color and your desired one might be worlds apart, it might be just the change you want.

2. Pay a Visit to A COLORIST OR ATTEMPT TO Do It Yourself

Now comes the age-old question: Do I seek out the help of a professional or do I just go for it myself ?

When it comes to dyeing hair a new color, these are your main two options.

You may want to give your choice some serious consideration before making up your mind, seeing as it can play a huge role in just how nicely your color comes out, and how close to your expectations it is.

Going to hair salon and also working with a professional hair colorist will ensure that attain just the perfect shade that your were looking for.

After all, this person’s professional training has taught them not only to listen to their client’s needs, but also to predict them, and correct them.

If the color that you wish to attain is unsuitable for you, your colorist is till under the obligation of abiding by your wishes, but he will still give you objective advice.

If you choose to go to a salon, show up with visuals (pictures, videos, and samples) of the exact color you think would look great on you and a colorist will be able to help get you there

If you prefer to go at it solo, try the L’Oréal Paris Féria Deep Burgundy Brown to get a fearless, vibrant coloring.

Please keep in mind that the BURGUNDY BROWN Hair-color requires extra attentiveness and special products to maintain

No Worries though, it’s only a tiny bit more care and ti be perfectly honest, it’s well worth every penny. You’d only be replacing old products anyways.

So think about trading in your old staples for these services and products that can prove to be very helpful for color-treated hair.

Shampoo, conditioner, and hair remedy:

Try using color safe products such as the L’Oréal Paris EverPure Re-pair & Defend Shampoo, L’Oréal Paris EverPure Re Pair and Defend Conditioner, and the L’Oréal Paris EverPure Re-pair Solution Balm. The combination works like a charm on dyed hair

Heat protection: In styling your hair, you’re likely to often resort to heat which may result in heat damage. In order to avoid that, think of using some sort of heat protection before styling your hair or blow-drying it.

Check out the L’Oréal Paris Advanced hair-style modern IT Iron Straight Heatspray, that offers 450 degree heat security while also preventing frizzing and blocking humidity for a slick style.

Pomade or paste: Give your hair a rest from heat tools every once in awhile.

While most stylists state that curing heat damage is not quite black and white, the one rule of thumb (that no one wants to hear) is that the only true way to eliminate heat damage is to cut it out entirely.

To avoid all that, maybe embrace your normal texture using a hair pomade or paste.

Work with your desired amount of this L’Oréal Paris Studio Line over Worked Hair Putty to dry or moisten hair, tousling to get to your desired style. Using this paste will give you a natural, messy, and carefree do.

Hair Spray: You’re probably thinking, all I’ve done is dye my hair, do I really have to change my hairspray as well ?

We, say yes, it’s better to adjust your hair-spray as well! When styling your hair, try switching to the L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hair Spray Extra-strong Hold. This hairspray contains innovative technology that not only allows your to get a seriously strong hold, but it also protects your colored locks from UV rays. But remember! Spray it in short bursts from approximately 12 inches away.

Burgundy hair ombre

Some call it dip dye, or tie dye but it’s more known in the hair world as ombré. The hair world borrowed the term ‘ombré’ from the French word meaning shaded or shading. Ombre hair color is traditionally darker at the roots through the mid-shaft and then gradually gets lighter from the mid-shaft to the ends. However it doesn’t necessarily have to go from dark to light, it can go from whichever color you want to any other color

Ombre hair has taken the world by storm. From professional models to the girl next door, everyone’s getting in on the action of this awesome hair coloring trend. The style has been adopted by many celebrities, such as Alexa Chung, Lauren Conrad, Nicole Kidman and Beyoncé.

Ombré hair is fantastic for so many reasons but most importantly it’s the one way to dye your hair that guarantees minimum maintenance; It’s the type of style that you can get once, and then completely forget about it.

The key to a perfect ombré is a seamless and natural transition from one color to another. The last thing you want is for your hair to look as if somebody drew a line across it to separate between the two colors

If you don’t wanna bother dyeing your hair from roots to ends, ombré hair might just be the trend for you. And another thing to keep in mind is that it’s only the ends of your hair that are concerned, so you can always just cut them off.

So you if you do choose to go for it, here are some ideas for you :

Burgundy highlights

Highlights are traditionally known as pieces or strands of your hair that are lighter that its natural color. For example, If your base color is brown, you can add highlights that are a lighter brown, or even have brown hair with blonde highlights. For blondes, blonde highlights incorporate lighter blonde shades.

Regardless of of your hair color, there are plenty of advantages to opting for highlights. Highlights are fresh and youthful and they add dimension and movement to any base color. Not to mention that the maintenance and upkeep required is noticeably less than if you were to change your hair color entirely—AKA way fewer salon visits.

The definition of highlights has also expanded to include and strands of your hair that are of any other color than your natural one, not necessarily lighter.

Highlighting hair isn’t the easiest process technique-wise, but there are many different ways to go about it. Some people use a highlighting cap, but the technique that results in the best and most natural effects is undoubtedly using foil to strategically isolate parts of the hair in various shapes and patterns, in order to create contrast that’s very bold, or very soft.

Burgundy highlights can be bold, or they can be subtle, the choice is all yours, you can make them whatever you want them to be.

So if you think Burgundy highlights might be for you, here’s some ideas that can help you :
