The first thing that you will need to understand when learning how to dye your hair with kool aid is that it works much better on hair that is already a lighter shade. Dark hair doesn’t react very well to kool aid. In fact, it typically will only show up as a tint. The second thing that you will need to understand when learning how to dye your hair with kool aid is that it is difficult to apply to an entire head of hair and is therefore typically applied to a portion of your hair or a couple of sections.

This leads us to the two different methods used when learning how to dye your hair with kool aid. The first method is a method called dip-dying and involves simply dipping the section of hair you want colored into a cup of very warm water mixed with the kool aid color of your choosing. The supplies that you will need include: Unsweetened kool aid packs (the number of packs depends on length and thickness of hair being colored), 1 dark colored cup or disposable cup, 1 old towel, and an old outfit that you don’t mind being stained with kool aid.How To Dye Your Hair With Kool Aid

Begin by mixing your kool aid packs with the very warm tap water in your cup. Fill it approximately ¾ of the way to the top. Twist the section of hair that you want colored into a pony tail and submerge it into the cup of kool aid. Let it sit in the kool aid for about 30 minutes and then rinse it out of your hair. Continue to rinse your hair until the water runs clear. This method should last anywhere from 1-3 months or longer depending on how light your hair was before you colored it with the kool aid.

The second method used when learning how to dye your hair with kool aid involves using a thicker mixture of kool aid and conditioner. You will need ¼ cup of conditioner, something to apply the thick kool aid mixture to your hair, a few bowls and spoons for mixing the different colors if necessary, approximately 4 packets of Kool-Aid, and some plastic wrap. Begin by mixing each individual kool aid color and conditioner into a separate bowl using the spoon to mix it well. Use a tooth brush or small paint brush to apply the mixture to the desired sections of hair. Be sure to apply a good amount of the mixture to help it set well. Wrap the section of hair that the kool aid blend was applied to in the plastic wrap (so that it doesn’t stain your skin or clothing) and let it sit for a minimum of 45 minutes or as long as over night. The longer is sits in the wrap, the longer the coloring will last (or so the theory goes).
